Culinary Arts level 2 students Nicholas Studdie and Elijah Lampard competed in an Iron Chef competition as a culmination of their first semester. Students were challenged to develop an entree menu with two sides featuring pork loin, potatoes, turnips, oranges, and cranberries. The students were surprised with a secret ingredient - maple syrup - they had to incorporate. Students had 1 hour to prepare the meal and create 2 plates for judging. Nicholas prepared roasted pork loin with a cranberry orange sauce, roasted potatoes and turnips, and garlic sauteed spinach. Elijah prepared dry rubbed roasted pork loin, mashed potatoes and turnips, and a cranberry orange compote. The winning dish (by 1 point) was Nicholas Studdie! Both students performed excellently demonstrating professionalism and cleanliness throughout the competition.
